Jim further explains that there are many factors that go into determining the life expectancy of your heating system such as “[if] a heating system has not been serviced for a long period of time, or continues to operate inefficiently, [it] will have a shortened life expectancy.”

In order to make an accurate determination about the state of your heating system, pay close attention to your recent utility bills and compare them to those of the same time period of the previous year. Additionally, be sure to check all of your filters and listen for any abnormal sounds as your system operates. Most importantly, be honest with yourself.
