Summer is officially in full swing, and New England heat and humidity are already going strong. With your air conditioning system running more frequently it is important to take the time to check your system over and do some light summer maintenance to keep everything running smoothly. This month’s post will go over some simple tasks that can help ensure that your air conditioning system isn’t in need of repair and that you should be contacting an emergency HVAC service specialist like us!
1. Check Your Air Filter!
While your system is running more often during the long Summer months, it is crucial to make sure that the air filter isn’t accumulating too much dust and debris. Make sure to carefully inspect all of your system filters for both the indoor and outdoor components. Be sure to clean every filter regardless of how little dust is present just to be safe, or if your unit uses replaceable filters don’t risk them going forgotten and change them out now.
2. Clean The Condenser Unit
The condenser unit of your air conditioning system is typically completely exposed to the elements day in and day out. Take some time and thoroughly clean the area surrounding the unit and the unit itself. Be sure to carefully check to see if any debris has entered any vents or fan enclosures and remove anything that has.
3. Check Outdoor Unit Wiring
It’s important to check the wiring of your air conditioning system on a regular basis to make sure it continues to work properly and remains safe. If you notice any wires that look burned or blackened, it’s time to call a professional and get them replaced – do not touch the wiring yourself!
4. Schedule A Professional System Check
Once you’ve completed all the summer maintenance tasks above, it’s time to bring in the experts.
